Don’t shout, enhance your argument. – Desmond Tutu
We often engage in debates with developers regarding how something is a Bug; how that Bug was encountered yesterday and surprisingly won’t reoccur today; how you perceive the severity as high when he thinks it’s not, etc. Isn’t this all familiar?
So the Zen way is to ensure you Submit a Bug or create a document or test functionality that leaves no room for doubt – improve the information/service you provide. Sometimes less is not better – especially not for us. We must be thorough.
When there is nothing kind to say, remain silent. – unknown author
Unfortunately, as Testers, we are the bearers of unpleasant news. Too many defects, show stoppers, unable to go live, insufficient time to test – these are some gloomy news we have to convey on a daily basis and definitely not pleasant things. So do we stay silent? – Of course not.
When we consider the big picture for a moment, the news may be unfavorable but the intention is good. We are striving to safeguard the project from failure – let this fact be the motivating factor and take pride in what you do.
You will only regret the photographs you did not capture. – Nicolas sparks
Screenshots – I sometimes think the “PrtSc” button was made exclusively for us. Isn’t it? If not for that, what would we have done? So don’t miss an opportunity to take a screenshot. You never know when you might need it and for what purpose.
We, at STH, are proud to be testers and I am sure you are too. If you are not a tester yet, we can’t wait for you to join us.
How do you remain composed in this ever challenging career? What’s your mantra?
