Daily Status Report
Key elements of an individual’s “Daily Status Report” involve:
- What tasks have been completed today?
- What tasks are scheduled for tomorrow?
- Were there any problems encountered during the day? If they exist, how have they been solved or are they still outstanding?
- Are there any inputs required for tomorrow? If so, from whom and what are they?
Usually, this email/report has the manager as the recipient and in some instances, it may be CC’d to team members – depending on the team’s adopted communication protocol.

Test Plan: It is crucial to initiate communication with the other project teams when a test plan is devised or when major revisions are made to it.
Test Documentation: Notify all teams when tests are being created, data is being collected, and other similar activities are taking place. This report not only offers progress updates on the task but also alerts the teams that need to review and approve the artifacts.
Test Execution: The implementation phase of a project is when the attention is on the testing team – both in a good and bad sense, as we are perceived as both the saviour and the antagonist.
The Daily Status Report is an essential accompaniment of a normal day during a test cycle. Some teams may prefer a weekly update, but daily updates are more common.
Typically, there will be a Daily (or weekly) Status meeting to present the status of the QA team to the concerned parties.

What is it? It is typically a communication sent out to provide clarity on the QA team’s undertakings during the Test cycle. It encompasses updates on both Defects and Test case execution.
Who should receive it? Usually, the recipients or meeting attendees are the Development team, Environment support team, Business Analyst, and the project team. The Test Plan is the best source to acquire this information.
