Understanding the Kobiton Tool
Before we dive in, it’s crucial to get an understanding of the Kobiton tool.
It’s vital to ensure that your application functions perfectly across different device specifications and screen resolutions. To address this, Kobiton offers a mobile device cloud testing platform, enabling constant testing of your app across a plethora of mobile devices, from older versions to the most recent ones.
In contrast with emulators or simulators, which can’t reproduce actual user conditions, Kobiton facilitates automation tests on real mobile devices and produces comprehensive test reports inclusive of logs, HTTP commands, and metadata.
Automation Made Easy with Kobiton
Step #1: Either log into your Kobiton account or register for a free account if you don’t already have one.
Upon arriving at the login page, it should look like the following:
Step #2: Choose the device you want to conduct the automation testing on. Look for the show automation settings icon located at the bottom-right corner of the device box and click on it.
An automation settings window will appear.
Step #3: Opt for the programming language in sync with your test script. As Kobiton supports the Appium test automation framework, we will use NodeJS in this example.
After selecting NodeJS, the screen should look like this:
Step #4: Use the ‘Copy to Clipboard’ button to copy the configuration for your chosen device.
Step #5: In your NodeJS test script, substitute the existing configuration in the input capability section with the Kobiton device configuration you copied in the preceding step.
