You ought to appreciate the ‘Concept’ advertisement and this time it’s about the ‘Act as you declare’ principle.
Abhishek Bacchan, portrays a doctor in the ‘Act as you declare’ ad, which is definitely not your typical ad, but then I wouldn’t expect less from the “Concept” ads; I love watching this advertisement and it’s one of my favourites as it resonates deeply with my feelings, and I believe it does with some of yours too.

Is it merely an ad aimed at improving people’s health and mindset, or is it a strategic move to boost mobile connection sales?
I’m unsure whether you would view this as just another advertisement or possibly a veiled message aimed at doctors or conventional experienced managers, whom I have drawn parallels with after viewing this advertisement. The roles differ in context yet share a common conscientious maxim: ‘Lead by example’ – ‘Act as you declare’
So, would I like to be classified as ‘act and declare’ or ‘declare and declare’?
I certainly do not want to turn into just another ‘declare and declare’ – dictate and dictate manager in any context.
My time in Germany taught me that I do not aspire to be just an excellent tester, superior manager, or outstanding test analyst. Rather, I am keen to become a ‘team defender’, offering the team the wisdom gained from my years of experience and mistakes as a tester immersed deeply in the field.
I also have no desire to develop and maintain the most impressive self-growth strategy and make my LinkedIn profile extremely attractive – yet I strive to keep my passion for testing technologies alive in my profile. I don’t want to be seen as just another billable worker, but instead, I want to be appreciated for my contributions to the team.
I have no intention of instigating any distrust due to skip-level meetings among team members, instead, I like to be judged fairly by the team in writing without having any pre-existing knowledge or impression of the team members.
I have no desire to validate my successful managerial skills by showing off the significant numbers of direct reports I have, but I’d rather be the sole person my team turns to during challenging times. I don’t want to be labelled as an excel-savvy manager, who is only concerned about numbers or work completion percentages, instead, I’d prefer to be a part of a self-managing team.
I have no ambition in becoming a cunning manager, I’d rather be an honest and transparent ‘Team Defender’.
Now, please don’t perceive this as a sophisticated statement, I too belong to the same group of individuals identified as a tester/test-lead/test-manager.
I fully comprehend the significance of test operation and test management, as well as the intense, gruelling, mind-boggling effort that goes into creating those aesthetically pleasing PowerPoint presentations and relentlessly updating spreadsheets.
However, it’s like those times when some critical priority 1 defects suddenly appear from production and cause panic at all levels of management, forcing you to report to them that ‘We have confirmed the defect on schedule’
My boss might’ve thought to himself: “Phew… the team has had my back, this was fortunate” and thus, I am one step closer to the enlightened state of knowingly doing what I am meant to with my team members – ‘Act as you declare’
It’s aptly expressed by the esteemed Sir Ji, the chief architect of India (CAI):
“Action speaks louder than words”
You might be wondering, who the heck is the esteemed Sir Ji, CAI? Yes, you’re right!
